Shorts & Sparkles

Holaaaa.. This outfit is for a family party- obviously, you want to look nice but not too OTT

Top: Monki (£8 sale)
Shorts: Topshop (£34-ish)
Tights: Tesco (£1.50 sale)

For my makeup I used the bourjois 123 foundation (with collection & loreal true match concealers), my naked pallette (naked all over the lid, sidecar on the outer half, toasted over that taken up a little higher, smog in the outer third crease & sin in my inner corner & dragged underneath). I used my sleek brow kit, contour kit and my revlon nearly naked pressed powder. I used my loreal superliner & maybelline rocket with bodycollection voluminising mascara. I lined my lips with rimmel's 'spiced' pencil, then with their 'one of a kind' lipstick and finally with loreal's glossy stain in 'milady'.

Hope you like it!! :)

gothic-esque pastels.

hola! I have another look for you.. this is such a simple outfit yet I love the overall look of it-  a bit gothic, a bit grunge, but definetly not too ott!!

my black tube dress (it has capped sleeves) was about £7 from h&m.
my tights were £3 in a topshop sale (the only thing I dislike about these is that they're footless & they ladder SO easily but anyways, they look good..)
my pastel/baby blue crochet cardi was my grandma's ...i think the little glimpse of it that you get helps make this outfit more wearable, and also breaks up the black.
my trusty leather jacket with faux fur collar was £55 from dorothy perkins
my chain was £6 (i think!) in the topshop sale..the flash of pastel pink is different to other chains and ia perfect for adding a touch of.colour
my socks was £2.50 from primark.
my white converse-style flatforms were £15 from ebay.. they are slightly uncomfortable at first as they have a slightly too rounded toe, but its alright! haha

i wore this looks with dark brows, a simple eye (no shadow, thin eyeliner with small flick & a few layers of mascara), vampy lip (revlon's kissable balm stain in 'cruah begun' & topshop's 'inhibition' lipstick) and straight, messy, quiffed hair - simple yet fitting for the look!!

jumper- topshop (i put the studs on it)
navy blue docs- ebay

monochrome midi ootd

hola, another quick ootd! I like this look because it looks chic and elegant, but also casual and edgy- my perfect combination!!
I think this look would look good with a topknot, but i felt like messy-straight-alexa-chung-esque hair today.. I also paired this look with simple winged eye makeup & then a bold coral lip (Revlon's 'Kiss Me Coral') & a bright orange/coral nailpolish (cant remember the brand but was only 99p from bodycare!!- if you want to know what it was comment & i'll find out for you)

My striped midi dress is from new look (£12.99....or there abouts). I love how the simple monochrome stripes can make an outfit so much more interesting, as well as the slight turtle-neck collar.
My cream jumper with the studded detailing on the shoulder was £25 in the topshop sale.. it is a good thickness & hangs perfectly.
My socks were £2.50 from primark and oh my gosh they are so soft and warm and cute!!! (Obviously, you could wear tights also, but it was a bit warmer today & I just couldn't be bothered with the faff!)
My leather jacket which you've all seen before was £55 from dotty p's- it's such a versatile piece and was one of my best investments.
I paired my oxblood docs with this look as they keep my feet warm, and just look amazing with everything..basically..

Hope you like this outfit and can take some inspiration from it! xxx

burgundy bodycon ootd

Holaaaa, as exams are over I intend to get back into the routine of blogging, starting with a quick ootd :)

My jumper is primark mens- there was a thick elastic band at the bottom but i gave that the chop! (i think it was £7)

My leather jacket with faux-fur collar is from dorothy perkins (£55. but i got 15% student discount, boom)

My skirt is from primark & i loved the ribbed/textured detailing on it..its also fairly thick material which is always good! (£3-4)

I'm a sucker for patterned tights anyway, but I adore this pair! Although they're 'hole-y' for me they haven't laddered nor got any extra holes in! (I think i got them for £1.50 from a charity shop near my gramps)

My shoes are my leopard print creepers from newlook. I hated creepers with a passion but I've grown to love them! (£10, new look sale)

My socks are the famous topshop ankle, frilly jobs. I love the look of the 'tough' shoes with a cute, girly pair of socks. I also love the slight hint of khaki with this look. especially next to the leopard print (Topshop £3.50 or 3 for £8)

My sheer shirt is from topshop and i was drawn to the detailing on the collar- a simple but effective was to bring an outfit together (£36..i think haha)

The Liebster Award

(Firstly apologies again for the lack of posting- college exams, dance classes, dance exams, work and all that jazz,, sorry! But anyways, on with the show...)

I must admit I had never heard of the 'Liebster Award' until I received an email notifying me I had been tagged (Merci Lucy!!), but I then took to blogspot to find out what they were and such... Basically, it is a way to help less-well-known bloggers (with 200 followers or less) get recognised- a good idea in my eyes!

So anyways, there are a couple of 'rules'... Firstly, each person must post 11 things/facts about themselves. Second, they must the answer the questions set to them by the person who tagged them. Thirdly, they must choose 11 people and tag them in their post. Finally, they must go onto the pages of the people they tagged and tell them -- simples!

Eleven Things About Me
- I met the Queen on her golden jubilee & gave her some flowers
- My fingers are crooked so I tend not to 'give the finger' to people
- Since I was 7 I've had to wear glasses full time (although I wear contacts now..)
- I have 3 sisters & 1 brother
- My eyes change colour (you know how your hair gets lighter in the sun? Well, my eyes get lighter..)
- I'm 5ft1 (but sometimes I'm 5ft2..hahaha)
- I have size 3 feet
- I dance 3 nights a week & do A-Level dance at college (I do jazz, hiphop/street, modern, tap, ballet, pointe & contemporary)
- I loveeee Demi Lovato ..like, too much for words
- I was obsessed with the Jonas Brothers for AGES (my room is still covered in their posters) & although I'm not a crazy fan-girl, I've always had a love for Joe :')
- I have 2 part time jobs as well as sometimes doing 'odd-jobs' like painting/teaching dance and such

Questions From Lucy
- What are your staple beauty items?
Eyeliner & concealer..I need concealer because I tend to get 'angry' spots in one place but then the rest of my skin will be fine (so I could live without foundation..probably), & eyeliner is just fab. Haha, I wear it everyday and I love how it's so versatile (You can go for a simple look or a really dramatic one). Thinking about it, another staple would have to be lipstick... I know that's a tad general, but omfg, i LOVE lipstick.... reds & darker colours i tend to prefer, but nothing can beat a bright coral in the summer!

- What are you staple fashion items?
My docs, without a doubt (I have a patent navy pair and an oxblood/cherry red pair). I love them in the winter as they keep my feet so cosy, but I love the looks of them in the summer how they can 'toughen up' and outfit and look so cute at the same time. Another has to be my leather jacket with faux fur collar from Dotty P's..i think I wear this everyday...I just love it and it goes with everything and I feel cooler when I wear it (ahahhahaha).

- Which celebrity do you take style/fashion inspiration from?
Demi Lovato prodominently, because I love her :} ...haha, no but seriously, I adore her style. Like, how she can look girly & elegant one day and then be all grungey the next. On the whole though I'll take ideas from everyone.. like, Ill go through magazines and just take inspiration from whatever catches my eye... i tend to take more style ideas from people like Kristen Stewart, MILEY CYRUS, Fearne Cotton... you get the drift :)

- Who is your celebrity crush?
Joe Jonas...heheheeehe:} I think like most people though I have some major girl crushes as well though- Demi Lovato (if you hadn't already guessed), Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene... ;) :L

- What inspired you to start a blog?
I think watching people such as Sammi (from Beautycrush, Gracie (uglyfaceofbeauty) & Leanne (ThunderAndThreads) on Youtube made me want to share my fashion and beauty ideas with others, but I was too scared to start a channel & make videos- I figured a blog would be the next best thing!

-Who is your favourite Harry Potter character?
I must admit, I'm not a crazy HP fan. I've seen all of them, but they were too confusing for my simple mind :L   ...I would say Hermione, but probably because I see her as Emma Watson, not Hermione..hahah ...but erm, Hadgred? (is that how you spell his name?) because he's so cute

- Are you reading any books at the moment? If so, what are you reading?
No...hahahha ...but I want to read 'Call The Midwife'- we have the book & I'm obsessed with the series so I think the book is going to be my next fix!

- What was the last gig or concert you went to?
I went to a festival last summer which I suppose was like one long gig? It was fairly small, but SO cute & had lots of different types of music from unknown artists (youtube 'Yes Sir Boss' & 'Middle Man'- they were insane!!)

- What foundation do you use?
Hm, well...I swap between foundations depending on what my skin is looking like- on the go currently I have: Loreal's True Match, Rimmel's Wake Me Up. Maybelline's Dream Satin Liquid, Maybelline's BB Cream & Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse ...usually my go-to is my loreal true match, as for me it gives the perfect coverage and finish.

- If you could look like anyone, who would you look like?
I often think about this, and I have many options :L - Demi Lovato, Kristen Stewart, Mary-Kate/Ashley Olsen, Cara Delevigne....I could go on forever :L

- What's your favourite song at the moment?
It depends what mood I'm in- Cockiness/Birthday Cake (Rihanna), End Of Time/Run The World (Beyonce), Turning Page (Sleep At Last)... oh oh i nearly forgot- one direction!!! I don't even know what happened but their music is so good to drive to...so i ordered both their albums...hahahha! Kiss You, Heart Attack & Gotta Be You are probs my faves right about now :L

2012 Beauty Favourites

Yaaaay, I'm finally doing my 2012 beauty favourites (sorry it's a tad late!!).
I went through all my beauty products choosing my favourites (duhh hahha) & had to be incredibly self disciplined about which products are my ultimate, ultimate favourites for the year..so here we go!!

#1. Brushes
Surprise, surprise my first favourites are some of the Real Techniques brushes..although I've been beyond-in-love with most of my brushes from this collection, my 2 favourites are the Stippling and Contour. I have used both pretty much everyday since I got them and cannot even express my love for them..hahaha. The gentle-ness (is that even a word?!) of them leaves a perfect finish no matter what product you choose to use them with and I cannot rave about them enough!!
Another favourite brush of mine is the No7 Flat Eye Colour Brush..being a lover of eyeshadow & eye makeup in general, I have numerous eyeshadow brushes but this one in particular has never let me down!!! The soft, compact bristles make this brush ideal for both 'sweeping' the eyeshadow for a softer look, as well as 'pacting' the eyeshadow on for a deeper, more dramatic look.. this brush is a total bargain at around £5!

#2. Face Products
My favourite foundation for this year has to be Loreal's True Match Foundation (I'm shade N2 Vanilla)..I love the coverage that it gives- enough to make you look brighter & cover redness, whilst still looking natural and definitely not cakey). It also comes in a wide range of shades which seems to be unusual for some brands!!
My next two favourites are concealer.. obviously the infamous Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer (I'm shade 1) as the coverage it gives is unbelievable, especially for the price! My second is Loreal's True Match Concealer (I'm shade 4, 'Beige').. For me, it is unusual to have a concealer that dark yet this one matches perfectly, covers imperfections & redness as well as being really easy to blend and nice to work with.
My next 'face' favourite is Sleek's Contour Kit (I have the lighter shade). This product is so inexpensive yet so good, especially for someone like me who not only wants to add shape to their face, but also some colour (I'm not a huge blush fan, as I only have fairly pink cheeks, so adding blusher to the mix just makes me look constantly flustered..NOT attractive hahah!!)
My final face favourite is my No7 Eyebrow Pencil (Shade 10, Brown)..as you can see mine is in a bit of a state & I think a new one is needed fairly pronto, but I still had to include this in my favourites. I use this product everyday and find it so easy to work with. It is the perfect colour, consistency and had amazing staying power- all of this for about £7!!! Personally, I find having good eyebrows can make a face- they become the perfect frame for the rest of your makeup.

#3. Eyes
I think it's pretty clear that my favourite type of makeup is eye makeup, so it was beyond hard for me to choose my favourites. Obviously, my naked palettes are right up there, but I thought I would choose a couple of my other loves! The first is the MUA eyeshadow trio in 'Innocence'.. I think this cost me about £3 but it is absolutely incredible (a very good dupe for the bourjois eyeshadow trios!). The textures are easy to work with, have amazing colour pigmentation and, most imporantly, are very flattering. My second favourite is the Maybelline 24 colour tattoo in 'Pink Gold'. At first I wasn't a huge fan of these cream eyeshadows as I wasn't exactly sure how to work with them, but as I've got used to them I actually adore them, but this peachy/pinky shade is my favourite (unusually for me!). For me, it doesn't crease, the colour stays & is so flattering when you want a simple eye look.
My favourite eyeliner of the year was Maybelline's Liner Express. The fluidity and staying power of that particular liquid eyeliner was insane! (I need to repurchase it actually, as I thought I should give some other liquid/gel eyeliners a go first, but nothing matched up).

#4. Lips
Lip products are also one of my favourites, especially because they change with the seasons and can define a look completely, so once again choosing my favourites was hard!
To begin, I chose Rimmel's Lip Pencil in 'Spice'. If you've read my previous blog posts you will see that this features highly as it is such a versatile colour. For me, it is the perfect 'nude'..I know it isn't technically a nude, but if I have a natural lip colour that is too similar to my face shade I look awful, so to bring in a slightly darker, yet still nude-ish colour is the perfect alternative for me. I also adore this product as it can be worn by itself and look amazing (as well as hold pretty darn well!), but it is also perfect to go under various lipsticks in various shades, and just deepen the look.
For Lipsticks I couldn't choose one favourite, as I go through stages of each.. I thought a good way to combat this was to choose my most worn fall/winter lipstick and then my most worn spring/summer..... For the fall/winter (and what seemed to be all year round) my favourite lipstick was Revlon's 'Rich Raisin'. As it is a frost finish I found it easy to wear for all occasions as it could be build up or kept quite sheer. The shade of red has the perfect balance between vampy-deepness yet not washing you out. My more summery lipstick had to be Revlon's 'Kiss Me Coral'. (Yes, I love Revlon lipsticks- I love the different finishes, I love the range of shades and I LOVE the price!!!) I adore coral lipsticks as to me they instantly mean summery goodness..hhaha. Although the finish of this lipstick is Creme (so different to Rich Raisin) it once again has the ability to be built up to give you an even more vibrant colour.

#5) Nails
Over this last year I've become a complete nail junkie (take a look at my instagram if you don't believe me, @Georgie_Alicee), so like the lipsticks I chose a more wintery shade, a more summery shade & then a 'staple' in my nail collection...
My wintery shade HAD to be Topshop's 'Airplane'..I cannot even put into words how beaut this colour is.... hahahha. It's not a royal blue.. It's not a cobalt blue.. It's just so gorgeous & looks really nice on the nails. I also found that it doesn't chip overly easily, although I do tend to do two coats and/or put a clear coat on top. My summery shade has to be No7's 'Cheeky Chops', which is a bright barbie-pinky-coral... kind of... To get the full effect of the colour I would say 2 coats are definetly needed, but it dries pretty fast & doesn't chip really fast which is always good!!
The nailpolish I HAD to include in my favourites is Natural Collections Clear Nailpolish... It cost me £2 and I  use it EVERY time I paint my nails, without fail. It protects my nailpolish, dries pretty fast and does everything I need it too.. perfff :)

Why I don't have favourites of some products...
As I said, I'm not a blush fan due to the natural pinky-tone to my skin (cheeks in particular).
I'm not a huge mascara fan..I use it everyday but I'm not fussy about which I use/what it does..sorryyyy!!
Like mascara I use skincare products everyday, yet I swap and change the one that I use daily, depending on what I feel like that morning/night- the fact I don't have one particular product that stands out in my mind suggests it probably isn't worth raving about.. hahah

So there you have it..my 2012 favourites...even if it is a little late. I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe will go try out some of my favourite products! Thankyouuuuuu :)

Knits & Bolts OOTD

Holaaa, I have another quick OOTD for you :)
   - today was my first day back at college after christmas (boooo, sadface!) and I felt like a simple & cosy outfit that didn't take much thinking and was comfy. As you'll see, this outfit would be easy to recreate if you have similar pieces in your wardrobe (which I'm sure most people would) and is easy to throw on if you're a tad short for time in the mornings!!

Ps. I do have a black bodycon skirt underneath the jumper, just before you think otherwise!!!

Oversized, thick-knit jumper: Urban Outfitters, £50 (last season)
Burgundy beanie, Newlook, £5 (I'm quite sure they are in the sale at the moment so go grab one!!)
Lightening bolt tights: -unknown-
Grey frilly socks, Topshop, £3.50 or 3 for £8
Leopard print creepers, New Look, £10 (sale)

I wore this look with simple eyemakeup; Urban Decay's 'Sidekick' all over the lid with a very light touch of 'Smog' in the crease, finished with a thin sweep of eyeliner & brush of mascara & then a bold lip; Revlon's kissable balm stain in 'Crush Begun' and Topshop's 'Inhibition' Lipstick :)

Baroque MTV?!?!

Hola, another quick/simple ootd.. I like looking at people's daily outfits for ideas, so even if I don't have the exact same clothing items as they're wearing I can think of similar ones I own and can go from there...hopefully I can give some of you some inspiration if you're in a rush and just can't think of what to wear one day, hahah!!

MTV Jumper, River Island, (£10 sale) ..its a size 16 but I personally prefer my jumpers baggy. I was so happy to find this design as SO many people had the MTV clothing but I hadnt seen anyone with this particular print :)

Leggings, H&M Kids, (£6, few years agp) ..you cant see in this picture but they're actually very subtle leopard print, in different shades of grey. It adds something to this outfit so its not boring, but not so much it becomes un-casual (if thats even a word...)

Navy Blue Docs, (£15, Ebay....BOOM!!) ..I adore my docs..they go with everything and I especially like this colour against the grey leggings; the patent finish also adds another texture to the look :)

Chain, Topshop (£6, sale) ..i love the 3 different colours within this particular chain making it more versatile & meaning it goes with more outfits (duhh..haha)
